Is the Songwriting course suitable for beginners?

Yes. The Songwriting course assumes no previous experience. However it will be helpful if you can play an instrument OR you have some experience using music production software.  You will learn practical songwriting techniques that can be applied to various styles of music.

What hardware do I need to take the Songwriting course?
Mac Users

• Power Mac G3 or higher (depending on your audio software requirements)
• 128 MB RAM minimum - 256MB RAM recommended
• A sound card
• A microphone that connects to your sound card

PC Users

• Windows 98/2000/NT/Me/XP/Vista
• Intel / AMD / Athlon Processor (depending on the audio software requirements)
• 128 MB RAM minimum - 256MB RAM recommended
• A sound card
• A microphone that connects to your sound card

What software do I need to take the Songwriting course?

• PC web browser - Internet Explorer, Netscape or Firefox
• Macintosh web browser - Safari or Firefox
• Macromedia Flash Player - download here
  
• Apple QuickTime - For Mac - For Windows
• A word processing software that supports Rich Text Format (RTF)
• An audio recording/editing software that allows you to record yourself (playing/singing), and save in MP3 format.

If you do not have already a recording/editing software, you can use the free cross-platform software Audacity for this course.

Is the Songwriting Course accredited?
