  • Create a basic arrangement for the rhythm track

Week 5: Basic Music Theory - Chords

  • The basics: notes, octaves, tone & semi tone
  • Scale and chord construction and inversion
  • How to use EVP88 & EB3 in Logic 8

Week 6: The Bassline

  • The role of the bassline in popular music

  • Recording & editing techniques

Week 7: Basic Analog Synthesis (part 1)

  • How does a synthesizer make a sound?
  • The oscillator: filter & volume envelope sections
  • Producing a 'fatter' sound & a look at classic synths

Week 8: Basic Analog Synthesis (part 2)

  • Using modulation to give expression to a sound
  • Modulate the filter using envelope & velocity

Week 9: Structure & Arrangement
