Hands up who wants a Cubase Deep/Soulful House course?

Postby Danny J Lewis » Wed, 30 Jun 2010, 09:46

If there's enough demand we might be able to schedule in a conversion of our highly successful 4 week online Deep and Soulful House course.

http://www.pointblankonline.net/deep-house-and-soulful-house---logic-course.php

Where are you Cubase users? Let's have a show of hands and some enthusiasm for a Cubase 5 conversion!! I'm game if you are!! Seriously though... the 5.5 update is dope.. Cubase is back in the game..

As someone who is obsessed with soulful house I would switch to Cubase to do this course.

I have been looking enviously at the you-tube tutorials for the logic deep/soulful house course for weeks now. I have been dabbling with Sonar 7 for a few months and am planning to upgrade to a PC solely for music production. I cant afford a hi spec mac and was planning to purchase Ableton.

I would love the chance to do this course on any PC capable DAW.

Ableton Deep/Soulful has been announced - there's a post in the General Chat forum that mentions it.. Cubase could be after that one too ;)

Hi Danny, i 100% want a Cubase 5 deep and soulful house course. I have rang Point Blank about it twice in the last few months to suggest it (not having a spare £2000 in my back pocket to buy a decent Mac, then buy Logic, then learn how to use and then pay for the course) and was starting to think i was the only person in the world who has Cubase 5 and wants to make deep and soulful house music with it. I'm sure there are loads of other people who are up for it, but like me only looked as far as the website homepage and Cubase course page and not seeing any announcement thought it was never gonna be considered. I only saw this thread today by chance. Thanks for considering it Danny, we appreciate you must be very busy.I would sign up for it tomorrow. I very much hope it happens soon.

Dave.

I'd love to do the course, we just need more demand so please gather the Cubase supporters and pester the office! If there is enough of a requirement for it i'm sure it can be scheduled in.

Hi Danny, Will see what i can do, even if it means me having to join a couple of forums. One thing i did notice is that this is slightly buried in the forum and (imo) people are more likely to just look at the Cubase courses page and assume it's not gonna happen. What i think could work worst case scenario, is giving it a trial for a couple of months whilst FULLY advertising it on your home page and then see what numbers you get. Anyway, i will get to work to see what i can do to help out.

Hi Danny,

I totally agree on Dave's posts.

- I don't want to spend a bunch of money for a Mac just to be able to switch from Cubase to Logic. Besides I think you're right: Cubase 5.5 is dope, so who needs Logic? ;)
- I also saw this thread only by chance as I was googling for ' Cubase deep house' to find out whether there are qualitatively adequate courses out there. I'm sure the small number of posts here doesn't represent the actual demand at all.

You won't repent giving a Cubase deep house course a try. I already enjoy watching the Cubase 5.5 vids on your YouTube channel. Thanks a lot for these, great job!!!

It would definitely be you doing that course, right? No harm meant to the other tutors, but I've seen the Logic course preview and find you MUST do it. ;)

Cheers,
Benny

Guys, if you want the course please hassle the office about it - AND put messages up on the Facebook page.. http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#!/poi ... ege?ref=ts - make sure you say DEEP HOUSE ON CUBASE - you might even win a prize! I want to do it... I don't make the decisions though so please influence those who do. Peace, Danny.

If you are on the course and want your DVRs done in Cubase i'm cool with that.. just make sure you remind me! The actual videos on the course are Logic but the majority of the techniques would be transferable to Cubase..

Hi Danny, is there any news on a Cubase Deep & Soulful House course yet? One of the moderators said that this had the most requests out of any course people would like to see, so i just wondered what the latest update was. If it is agreed by the powers that be, how long roughly does it normally take from it being agreed, to people actually starting the course? Also, i noticed that you said in the previous post that although done in logic, some bits could apply to Cubase users. Does that mean if the Cubase version of this course is a long way off from the actual start date (eg a few months away) that you could in theory join the Logic course and do your stuff in Cubase instead? I did ask the office a long time ago and they said that signing up for the Logic course but using Cubase instead would be waste of time and money as the course applys to Logic users only. Just wondered what your thoughts on it was, seeing as your the person who is actually doing the course. Obviously i hope the Cubase course is just around the corner instead.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Dave, i'm currently building a new Cubase course - it's a generic longer production course that covers a range of styles such as contemporary pop/hip hop, dubstep, house, deep house and much more.. it's designed to take people from the beginning up to a good standard.. this will launch in jan. A specific deep and soulful one could be on the cards for development after... once again I need people to through their requests for it as I don't make the decisions - i just build and teach!

It will take months to build so if you are feeling impatient I would say that you would definitely get something out of the Logic course - It is ALL Logic on the video content side but I can do the DVRs in cubase... it's up to you..

Thanks for the reply Danny, i'll have a little think about whether to go with the Logic or wait for Cubase. If i do go with Logic i'll make sure your all right with it first, just in case that particular month is busy for you and doing DVR's in Cubase would add too much to your workload. Thanks for all your hard work and flying the Cubase flag.

The new Cubase course is now being advertised on the brochure - http://www.pointblankonline.net/cubase-course.php

You can also check some of the audio examples of projects from the course - the range of styles is very varied and very much influenced by what's out there at the moment.

Hi Danny, It's Dave123 (i posted a couple of replys in this same topic earlier), i've changed my details and profile because i've just signed up for your Deep & Soulful House course starting on the 29th November. Just to remind you, i'll be looking to do my work with Cubase because i don't have Logic and was just making sure your still ok about doing my DVR's in Cubase. I did double check with the course advisers this week and they said it will be fine as long as your still happy to do it. If this is a problem please let me know , otherwise see you next week. Thanks.
