Listen to Very Very Wrong Indeed Winning Remixes

You may remember back in August 2011 we ran a competition with VeryVeryWrongIndeed Recordings to remix Paul Loraine’s track ‘Move Closer’ with the winner to get a full global release on their label and a Point Blank Online course.

We received loads of fantastic efforts from our students and no-one was more staggered by the consistently high quality as VVWI label boss Tim Sheridan. So much so that he decided to pick not one but two winners… Nice! He also sent a magnificent email in response, paying tribute to the submissions and delivering some poignant and pretty hilarious points on the perils of running a record label, plus some great advice for remixers – we just had to share it with you so click here to read Tim’s email in it’s full glory.

Congratulations must go out not just to the two winners but everybody who helped make the standard of competition high enough to attain such praise from the tech house legend. But without further ado, lets meet the winners and hear their remixes which have now been released:

Joaquin Gomez calls Barcelona his home these days although a native of Mar del Plata in Argentina. Already an established DJ in Spain, Italy, Mexico and naturally Argentina, he has recently started to produce and release on the Tecnove Records imprint out of Barca. This is his reaction to winning:

“This is the first time i ever entered a competition, so i’m so happy that my track was chosen. The original track is massive, and Paul is probably one of the most talented producers in the world. Thanks to all the staff at Point Blank and VVWI for doing this kind of competition that motivates us, the small producers, to keep focus on what we feel and believe in. It’s all about the music…”

Deep, clean and simple, his remix suits the label’s sound like a snug glove. Take a listen below and head here to buy.

Just Rhythm, known to his mum as Robert Kimber, has DJ’d for over 10 years but realised early on that playing records by others just wasn’t satisfying enough and instead turned to production. With several other projects currently in the pipeline he is certainly one to watch in the near future. He said of his winning mix:

“I tried to produce a remix that I felt would fit the VVWI brand and I’m chuffed that it was well received by Tim and the VVWI team. Surprised to have won though! Massive thanks VVWI”

His driving, atmospheric take on the original is sure to slay any dancefloor in encounters! Listen below and head here to buy.
