Next up in our monthly series of guest masterclasses is head honcho of London record label Hypercolour, Alex Jones, who will be stopping by the Point Blank studios on Thursday 8th March at 1pm (GMT) for an interview and to share some of his production knowledge. We will be broadcasting live online through our Livestream channel so you can watch from where ever you are in the world!
Alex made his name through his infamous afterhours Retox parties, which pulled in followers like Luciano, Pier Bucci, Jamie Jones and M.A.N.D.Y. to name a few. In 2006 he decided it was time to start up the Hypercolour label with Jamie Russell which has since put out a consistent flow of quality house music from artists such as Tom Demac, Jozif, Kris Wadsworth, Maya Jane Coles, Shenoda, and Huxley. His own discography features productions and collaborations with the likes of Glimpse, Geddes and Alex Niggemann on Hyperclour as well as other big imprints such as Tsuba, Vitalik and Murmur Records.
On top of sharing his knowledge an experiences of running a successful underground record label, Alex will be providing an analysis of his tech house bumper ‘Disappointing Dancefloors’ (listen below) which was released in summer of 2011. He’ll deconstruct the track in Ableton Live, revealing some of the instruments and effects he used and his thought processes for putting together a club track.
This FREE masterclass will take place at 1pm on Thurs 8th March and is open to all, so if you haven’t visited us before this is a great chance to see the Point Blank studios and stock up on some knowledge and inspiration while you’re here! Places are strictly limited and on a first come first serve basis so get in touch with davidm@pointblanklondon.com quick to reserve yours now.
For all those who cannot make it in the flesh we will be broadcasting the session live via our Livestream channel where you will also be able to submit questions for him to answer at the end, so make sure you join us at 1pm (GMT).
